Why it happens
The screen always says to check your email, even when no account uses that address. So a quiet inbox can mean a typo in the address. A link opened on a different device does not work.
How to fix it

Check the spelling of the email, then ask for the link again.

Look in Spam or Promotions.

Open the link on the same phone or computer where you asked for it.

Too many asks makes you wait a minute or more. Wait, then ask once.
